Alaska Ice Fishing
Most people think of Alaska as a warm place full of animals and fun places to go to. However, once you get far up into the colder areas of Alaska it is completely different, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy yourself while ice fishing in Alaska. The best time to go ice fishing in Alaska is from January until March. This is when the lakes and rivers freeze up and you can venture out onto the water to go ice fishing. It's good because even though it's really cold, there are actually a lot of things that people can catch during this time, such as: northern pike, Arctic grayling, arctic char (only in some areas), and king, chum and pink salmon.
Minnesota Ice Fishing
There are many different ice fishing spots all around Minnesota that people can go ice fishing at. The most popular ones are Clear Lake, Tetz and Black and Rice lakes. These lakes are known for having lots of fish, such as: crappie, panfish (bluegill, sunfish), northern pike, walleye and perch. It is said that you can catch more than one species at a time as well as catching some of the most prized catches during this time.
Wisconsin Ice Fishing
Another state to visit during the winter months is Wisconsin because there are so many ice fishing spots to choose from. The cities that have some of the best ice fishing include: Green Bay, Door County and Lake Geneva among other places.
